Read why the Rangers Charity Foundation is #MorethanFootball

The Rangers Charity Foundation exists to bring clubs, supporters, staff and players together in a unique way in order to make a difference to thousands of people by means of a range of charitable and community work. The foundation strives to be champions of charitable giving, and since the creation in 2002 £4 million in cash and in-kind support have been given to hundreds of organisations, groups and individuals.

Read below how they work with the Rangers family and what they think about the Action Week.

Today marks the start of#MoreThanFootball Action Week – a week devoted to showcasing how the power of football can change lives for the better.

Across Europe, football clubs will be celebrating the work they do off the pitch in their local communities, working with charities, grassroots projects and local people.

Thanks to the support of our fans, the Rangers Charity Foundation is a powerful force for good on behalf of the Rangers Family, working in the community and further afield to make a real difference to people’s lives.

The Foundation works with charity partners each season to fund projects that have a lasting and significant impact in our community and beyond.  This season we are working with Glasgow City Mission, the Simon Community, the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, Beatson Cancer Charity, Breast Cancer Care, four services-related charities and Unicef, the world’s leading children’s charity.

We are also very proud of our own work in the community.  Every season we help thousands of fundraisers support causes close to their hearts by making in-kind donations and we assist various community initiatives such as our local food bank.

Our comprehensive community programme also reaches thousands of children and adults with important messages and training regarding health and fitness, employment, equality, diversity and education.  Programmes such as Glasgow Veterans United, Recovery With Rangers, Football Fans In Training and Ready4Employment have received plaudits from all sections of the community.

Look out for all our posts this week about the amazing work we’re doing and search for the #MoreThanFootball hashtag on social media for more information.
