Rovers Midfielder Bradley Johnson Named PFA Community Champion

In July 2020, Blackburn Rovers midfielder Bradley Johnson was named Blackburn Rovers Community Trust PFA Community Champion Award.

Johnson was nominated by Blackburn’s official charity for his actions during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. He worked with former footballer Dexter Blackstock to create an online campaign to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to NHS workers, care homes and other organisations during the pandemic.

Their campaign received over 650 separate donations and raised over 27,000 pounds, which allowed Johnson and Blackstock to deliver more than 10,000 protective face masks to institutions in East Lancashire like the Linden House Care Home, Old Gates Care Home and Rummage Rescuers.

Blackburn Rovers have joined the #Morethanfootball Action Weeks this year to showcase the immense impact of their work off the pitch. Bradley’s initiative is just one of the many programmes the club have run to be there for the community.
