East of Scotland FA
The East of Scotland Football League & Association is a league of football teams from south-east Scotland, which was formed in 1923. The league sits at level 6 on the pyramid system, on par with the South of Scotland Football League and West of Scotland Football League. It has two divisions and is a feeder to the Lowland Football League.
Among its numerous initiatives to promote social good, the East of Scotland FA has for years been directing its efforts towards combatting child abuse.
The East of Scotland Football League is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all players in its care. The League recognises its responsibility to promote safe practice and to protect players from harm, abuse and exploitation. To help achieve this, the League has in place the appropriate people, policies, procedures and practices to ensure the safety and wellbeing of players under its jurisdiction.
The wellbeing and protection of all children and young people is the responsibility of everyone within membership of the League regardless of their role. With this in mind, the following points are highlighted:
• the welfare of the player is paramount
• all children and young people, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious beliefs and/or sexual identity have the right to protection from abuse
• all suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately
• all members of the League have a responsibility to report concerns to the
Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer.
