Focus on Fundación Córdoba CF’s work in Sahara
The project of working in Algeria started in February 2015. Both President and Vice-President of Fundación Córdoba CF travelled to the refugee camps of Tindouf, Algeria, to see people’s real situation. After that, Fundación Córdoba CF started the collaboration and donations of sport equipments for kids to create a sport camp in 4 “wilayas” (small cities in this camps) of Tindouf.
In May 2016, several members of the Fundación Córdoba CF (President, Vice-President and two trainers of the academy) went to a refugee camps in Tindouf to make a 10-day training course to 8 Sahara’s youngers. They received basic formation about how to become trainers in the future. Then, they also started creating 4 sport schools in 4 wilayas, in Smara, El Aaiun, Boujador, Auserd. All the players are between 6 to 16 years old.
In December 2016, another expedition of the Fundación Córdoba CF went to Algeria to prepare the second part of the training delivered to the Saharahuis coaches.
This trip was also an opportunity to meet the Director General of Sports as well as the Minister of Sports and Youth of the Sahara, with whom they have agreed new ways of collaboration between the different entities.
Currently, Fundación Córdoba CF are still in contact to see the progress of the schools and check in the first hand the needs of this collaboration in order to improve the quality of the courses delivered there.
Related to this project, Fundación Córdoba CF also organizes some advertising campaigns such as “Ponte en sus botas” (Put on their shoes) in order to increase the donations of football boots for the children of this camp. Also, The Foundation co-organize another campaign to collect and give food to the Saharahuis.
