FC Barcelona Players Association and Barça Foundation join Action Weeks
Agrupació de Jugadors del FC Barcelona (AJFCB) – the FC Barcelona Players Association – is the latest high profile sign up for the 2020 #Morethanfootball Action Weeks. The grouping brings together former players of the Catalan club with an aim to guard players during and after their professional life, helping them to integrate and accompanying them during their Barcelona journey and upon a return to society. The players association joins another Barça entity, Fundació Barça which has also signed up for the Action Weeks.
The #Morethanfootball Action Weeks set for September 15 to October 11 are a global campaign for the European football community to showcase the impact of their community and social responsibility activities and programmes. It provides the wider European football family with a platform to inform and engage with fans and stakeholders on their Community and Social Responsibility activities. Similarly, it raises awareness of the transformative role European club football plays in changing peoples’ lives for the better.
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the association was involved in initiatives as part of the response from Barça Foundation and FC Barcelona. Despite six members of AJFCB suffering from the novel Coronavirus, 638 other members cared for others by calling and assisting where possible. It hosted online educational courses and published entertaining videos, made live calls with past legends and training videos specifically targeted towards elderly people.
